Greek food in Durban, again in a mall, again difficult to find, and again queuing outside every restaurant as if there were free chickpeas for everyone. At the Greek too: a deluxe wait, even though some tables inside were empty. After what felt like 20 minutes, we were finally allowed in. Inside we found a surprisingly fast and friendly service. In South Africa, something like that is almost as rare as a UNESCO World Heritage site. My souvlaki was okay, the other dishes equally solid: gyros, fries, salad, all decent and filling. But 4.9 stars on Google? A few cousins and relatives might have boosted the rating. No comparison to Greece itself. It was more like "Mykonos light" with mall lighting. Still: 4 out of 5 stars. We came with a big group and they had no problem accommodating us. All the staff were lovely and helpful. Most of the food was tasty and everyone left satisfied. One fun part was they let us smash plates as we were celebrating a birthday.
